The Stage III vapor recovery unit is installed at the storage tank breather valve of the gas station. When the station is unloading fuel or the internal pressure exceeds a preset threshold, the system automatically activates. A compressor pressurizes and liquefies the fuel vapors; the mixture is cooled by an air-cooled heat exchanger and then enters a gas-liquid separation tank, where the condensed liquid flows back into the fuel storage tank via the piping. The remaining gas enters a membrane module to separate fuel molecules from the air. Fuel molecules rapidly adhere to the membrane surface and—driven by the negative pressure of a vacuum pump—pass through the membrane to the central collection pipe, eventually being discharged into the fuel tank via the vacuum pump outlet; meanwhile, the air component of the vapor does not pass through the membrane and is vented directly into the atmosphere. When the tank pressure drops to the system’s preset stop pressure, the unit automatically enters standby mode; it resumes operation automatically once the sensed pressure rises back to the preset activation level.
